Please join us to see some of the work so far for Lightboxes and Lettering, by Rendezvous Projects CIC. Our Lottery funded project explores the history of the printing industry in east London in the 20th century in the pre-digital era. For Lightboxes and Lettering we are collecting images, memories and printed materials and recording the experiences of people who worked in the industry in Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest and some surrounding areas.
Archive images will be on display and a selection of the interviews we have recorded so far available to listen to. We invite you to come and share any images, stories or printed matter that you would like to contribute to the project and to meet the team and our volunteers. We will also have workshops taking place including with Hooksmith Press and Screengrab.
On Saturday 8th December we are inviting past and present workers in the industry to join us for refreshments and a chat, to share stories and bring any images or printed matter to contribute to the project. Please RSVP if you would like to come.
The project will culminate in early 2020 with a final exhibition in Bow and a publication including material and reminiscences from some of the many varied businesses in the area.
